 Some people make a career of drawing cartoons. Thousands of others do it just for fun. Either way, this is a workshop which will lead you into all the basics of the cartoonist’s art...

Forget any preconceptions that you can’t draw – cartooning is a different language. It will add a bit of cheer & humour to your world. It may also enliven your cards, letters & doodles (not to mention newsletters, school assignments & company reports). It can enhance your powers of visualisation and may even earn you some money (there is much demand and scope for cartoonists in publishing, advertising, film / television & IT).

Cartoons are not only good for ulcers, they do good things for the mind as well (like improving your lateral thinking & creating lighter, easier ways to communicate). In a safe, playful environment, participants will learn all the basics of cartoon drawing & caricature. These workshops are guaranteed to gently encourage students to draw out their inner cartoonist; but they’ll also engage in a lot of group fun & spontaneous laughter. This is a wide-ranging workshop, with plenty of participation & action. By the end of the four weeks, you will be amazed at the amount & quality of what you have produced. And (as a bonus) you will have made some new (like-minded) creative friends.

The workshops are led by Brent Harpur, New Zealand Cartoonist & Facilitator. Brent has been teaching adults & children (of all ages, from schools to companies) since 1991. His gentleness, humour & innovative teaching style are great medicine for these difficult times.
