“Keep up the stunning work you obviously do. I’d love to see you working. It sounds inspirational.” (Rolf Harris.)

BRENT’S UNIQUE APPROACH TO SPEAKING…
When speaking to an audience, Brent introduces them to his life story. They are often surprised to learn that he is completely blind in one eye and legally blind in the other (and that he often can’t even see who he is speaking to!!)… He talks about his chosen profession (drawing cartoons at the same time); the many people he has met and the (often funny) situations he has found himself in, attending speaking engagements and touring his Cartooning workshops around New Zealand and Australia.

It is an inspiration to many people that (despite his lack of vision) Brent has fast become a much sought after, full time, taxpaying Cartoonist, Speaker, Facilitator/Trainer and Entertainer. Numerous television appearances, stage shows, radio interviews (and hundreds of newspaper articles later), having his parents finally see what he does as a ‘real job’ is one of Brent’s favourite achievements!

“Sporting a wardrobe clearly designed by someone who’s recently been allowed back into the community” [Dominion Post, 1996] is surely entertainment enough! – But add Brent’s colourful character and warm humour, quick-fire live cartooning skills, original poetry & storytelling to the mix and you have a certifiable humour hit at your next function…

Brent’s unique speaking style reflects his gentle (yet extrovert) personality and appearance. As a positive (and ever-practising) energetic role-model for both the Visual and Performing Arts, he ensures his audiences (young and old alike, often together) a memorable, fun experience…

...As well as a visually vibrant, candid insight into a lack of sight. And the mind and “condition” of a legally-blind Kiwi cartoonist!!

“A blind man benefits by a lack of distractions…My one-eighth vision happily obscures sad and ungainly sights, leaving only the vivid and the radiant, some of whom are my friends & neighbours…” [James Thurber.]k
